Summary of Shazam! Fury of the Gods: The Battle for Power and Legacy

"Shazam! Fury of the Gods" is an upcoming superhero film based on the DC Comics character Shazam. The film is a sequel to the 2019 film "Shazam!" and is directed by David F. Sandberg, with a screenplay by Henry Gayden. The story follows the teenage foster brothers Billy Batson (played by Asher Angel) and Freddy Freeman (played by Jack Dylan Grazer), who can transform into adult superheroes Shazam (played by Zachary Levi) and Captain Marvel Jr. (played by Adam Brody), respectively, by saying the magic word "Shazam". In the sequel, the heroes must face a new villain named Hespera (played by Helen Mirren), who is the daughter of Atlas, one of the ancient gods of the world of Shazam. Hespera teams up with her sister Kalypso (played by Lucy Liu), and they seek to obtain the powers of the gods for themselves and rule over the world. Along with the returning cast members, the sequel will also feature new characters, including Rachel Zegler as an unknown role and comedian Sinbad in a yet-to-be-revealed role. "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
